The Energetic Adolescent Dog

The devil made him do it. Or was he just being a dog? That’s my boy sniffing in the middle. All my dogs are now in their matching Halloween collars as of this morning, so is that what put the mischief into my adolescent boy?

Did the spirit of Halloween seep into him? Can you see it on his face and all over his tongue? Is that graveyard dirt? Or just happiness?

He did just get a chance to run around the yard, knocking over our old gal,

then galloping away to…

He was testing out “the position” while wearing his festive garb. Both worked well, then he got to work running some more.

I’m an avid gardener. I love hibiscus flowers, so therefore, have a good amount of and a variety of hibiscus bushes. But I also love avocado, and have three avocado trees that are about three years old each. The one in the front yard is especially strong and I’d been watering and fertilizing it the most due to proximity and I originally was told it was a fig tree. However, it’s avocado and now it’s missing a huge piece of branch, thanks to my enthusiastic dog.

The moment I saw it, my heart sank. That was a big portion of the tree, for its size, but I realize that no one was out to break it off. Even though there is plenty of yard around it, and why that particular spot, which makes me wonder who was steering, but it was an accident. One I quickly cleaned up so I couldn’t dwell on it. Now there’s a stump where the branch used to be, but actually, symmetrically speaking, it is more balanced since the accident.

If I wanted to buy an avocado and even take my dog to socialize walking nicely on leash so he doesn’t pull and also do some maintenance dog training near me, I’d go to 3080 Sheridan St, Hollywood, FL 33021. There’s a farmer’s market on Saturday and Sunday there with plenty of action, and lots of ways to work with a dog who needs help with obedience and impulse control work. I can also help other dog owners with that. I do board-and-train and at Love Wags A Tail, your dog is always trained humanely, never with choke, pinch, or shock collars. I use positive reinforcement and plenty of encouragement.

And to answer the question I posed, no the devil didn’t make him do it. He was just being a dog and letting out his energy. He couldn’t help it if a tree got in his way! Or the old lady dog, who’s gotten very good at dropping and rolling.
