We are in an episode of history to-be that is remarkable. My mother passed away over 20 years ago, and I often think about what happened since then. She never knew computers, cell phones, wifi, all this stuff. And I’m not really into having to learn all the newest connection technology because there is seemingly a new app every month to set up meetings! I don’t want to waste my precious time. I’m a dog trainer, not a tech person. And p.s. what’s wrong with the phone? It’s worked for at least a century, if not two.
There are so many apps that come up in my day-to-day, Zoom, Facetime, Skype, yikes, I can’t remember them all, but they are out there and some are even connected to the laptop I bought and deleted where I could delete.
I can talk to people on the phone to help them solve their dog training problems and even email them. Yes, there is a fee. I am in business. But if you email me, I can quote you after you specifically tell me what you need help with. If you want to do a video chat, that can happen, but I’m pretty sure with all the bad publicity Zoom has been having, it won’t be that.
The bottom line is, I understand behavioral science and how to apply it to training dogs. I can help you modify behavior that you don’t want your dog to do, OR help you to teach behavior you do want. I’ve lived through decades of change in dog training. (And I still can adapt to change and even wear a mask!)
But the most important and thorough dog training education I gained was through The Academy For Dog Trainers. After graduating with honors from that 2-year program, I learned so much about behavior that I can explain to you about both HOW to train your dog and WHY to do it. And you’d be amazed, because I was amazed at what I learned through Jean Donaldson’s course, and I love to share the information with you. Not many people graduate her intensive course. But then again, dog training requires NO education. So why should they? (Check out my credentials page!)
If you’d like to have private lessons over the Internet, contact me. (I have been an educator for decades.) Tell me specifically what you need help with, and I will quote you a package price. If we can use the phone, all the better than a whole new world through apps. But I will work with you. I have the know-how and can help you solve your training issues. So that would be your choice.
Meanwhile, there is music to get us through this pandemic. Keep the faith no matter what you’re facing. There is a solution right for you and me. And if we carry on, and follow through on the guidelines, realize, they are set for a reason, we will win. And most importantly, we will be one of the ones who will be Still Standing! Be kind to one another and be kind to our dogs. They only learn through our leadership, and leadership does not have to be scary or painful! I train my personal Dobermans through positive motivation and they are fabulous pets! Yours can be, too.
