A cutie pie 1.5 year-old French Bulldog named Apollo started his board-and-train, and my eldest, 11 year-old Dobergirl, Gemilie, introduced herself to him with multiple play bows. When a dog play bows to another, that’s a friendly greeting and can be an invitation to play. Follow me on Youtube. The Mighty Maltese
Maltese (Malteses?) are small but mighty. They are sassy little darlings. When they get comfortable in board-and-train, which is almost immediately, they always become great conversationalists. Put a talkative French bulldog together with a Maltese and you’d have quite a conversation. In the meantime, I enjoy the conversations I get to have with them. Besides their talkative personalities, they are also creative. This is Zoe who was the first Maltese I trained. During one of our sit stay lessons, she {Read More}

Bulldog Pulls Halloween Prank On Trainer
The personalities behind each pup and dog I train through my board-and-train at Love Wags A Tail dog and puppy training are like that box of chocolates Tom Hanks referenced in the movie Forrest Gump. It’s true. You never know what you’re gonna get in a box of chocolates or in a litter of puppies. I can empathize with owners who tell me they’ve had a certain breed for years, “but this one’s different.” Usually the “different” part is something {Read More}
Goldendoodle Follows His Nose
When a puppy or dog comes to board-and-train with me, if they care to share, I find out what their special gifts are. Besides being a superior paper towel swiper and shredder, Seymour not only fetches the ball and returns it for another round, but he can find the ball in a yard without anyone telling him it’s there in the first place. Seymour’s nose tells him it’s there. Amazing Doodle that he is. After this ginormous goldendoodle’s board-and-train, I {Read More}
Board-and-Training Recreation Time
While dogs and puppies train with me during their board-and-train packages, they also live with me as if they were my personal pet. I get to know them and find out their innate talents, what triggers naughty behaviors, as well as their learning velocity when we work through their training plans. Whatever I learn, I share with their owners. Recreation time is always fun. Dogs get to exercise and run on my securely fenced, half acre yard. Some chase lizards, {Read More}
Shy Puppy Small Adventure
Owners of shy puppies and dogs enroll their dogs in Love Wags A Tail board-and-train for housetraining because shy doggos also need housetraining. Gaining trust is a process that helps to build a rapport with the pooch needing house breaking and I work with them as much as possible to get there. When they go home, owners get specialized videos about their dog’s traiing so they can keep up the maintenance and growth training that goes along with housetraining. Luna {Read More}
Independence Day and Dogs
Happy Independence Day! While you celebrate the holiday remember to take care of your dog and keep him safe. Loud noises can be scary, so if you’re going out on the town to watch the fireworks, it would be kinder to leave the fur babies at home. With Independence Day comes the thought of independent dogs to me. I have board and trained shy dogs to independent dogs and all kinds of temperaments in between. No matter what breed or {Read More}
Serial Counter Surf-and-Swipe Doodle
Seymour is a Goldendoodle who has come to Love Wags A Tail board and train to learn manners. He uses his ginormous size to explore the tops of counters and other surfaces that most dogs only dream about reaching. Seymour is a big lovable fellow who gets a great deal of pleasure by being pursued when he grabs something he’s not supposed to have from off-limit areas. These grab-and-run games are his daily objective sometimes getting in over 50 repetitions {Read More}
Rules For Playing Ball with Schnauzer Auggie
Auggie is one of my board-and-trains who returns occasionally for board and training maintenance. He is a high energy fellow who needs lots of exercise, as well as reminders of his training. We train dogs to learn the rules, then we reinforce them to maintain them, no matter if it’s their first time here or their tenth. Schnauzer Auggie’s excitement was overwhelming, and when we started to play, he swiped my arm hard unexpectedly. That stung! Our daily ball playing {Read More}
Puppy Board-and-Train and Play
Greta is a baby Goldendoodle and Dolly is a baby Havanese. Both came to Love Wags A Tail puppy board-and-train for obedience basics, manners, housetraining, and crate training. Greta had quite the objection to crate training and barked her way into temper tantrums, but we got her over that. Dolly was more the mellow girl. When it came to roughing it up like puppies do, though, these two girls made perfect playmates! Dolly found the stairs easy to ascend and {Read More}
Doorbell Use For Squirrel Patrol
When certain puppies and dogs come to Love Wags A Tail dog training for housetraining or housebreaking board-and-train boot camp, they may learn to ring a doorbell. This depends on if they live on the ground floor of an apartment or condominium, or in a house. Clients have told me that their dogs also use their doorbells to relay the message that the puppy or dog wants to go outside for activities other than potty training. I recently recorded my {Read More}

A Puppy Learning During Board-and-Train
Puppies have to learn about everything, including figuring out things. Even when dogs of the puppy and adult persuasion board and train with me, the first lesson we work on together is learning to learn. Paying attention when learning is step one no matter what the topic or behavior is that the student is processing. And learning can happen with our without a human teacher. This learning all depends on the lesson. As in the case below, a board-and-train puppy {Read More}
Crate and Housetraining for a Puppy
Gracie was about 10 weeks old when she visited Love Wags A Tail board and train dog training. She came to me as a crate screamer with no off switch. Gracie is a Shih Tzu – Bichon girlie mix (Shichon), who knows what she wants and she isn’t shy about letting the entire world know about it. With day-by-day training, I set up a protocol for the owner to use to quiet Gracie down. Prior to the little pup’s stay {Read More}
