My Dobermanns loved to play with sticks and help me out on tree trimming days. They specialized in branch and stick management. Either they carried their prizes around, ran after each other to play keep away, or shared in the treasures and played tug and chew with their sticks.
It’s interesting that some dog toy manufacturers make dog toys to look like sticks! There’s a reason for that. Dogs. Like. Sticks! There are even stick dog toys that squeak, ones you can stuff food into, and others you can toss in a lake for fetching because they float!
The stick is a classic dog toy that will never go out of fashion. And as much as toy manufacturers want to make a better stick, the real thing is going to be a winner to most dogs.
So go ahead and toss a stick around with your dog and share in a tradition that’s been bonding dogs and their owners for decades.
