I had just had Lola, my miniature schnauzer 6 month old puppy, for 3 months when we decided we should get a trainer after she ran one day from us. We contacted Helen to help us train our Lola. Since our first consultation, I knew we had contacted the right person for Lola. Helen’s attention to detail, relationship with the dog, and tips when we first starting meeting for private lessons were above and beyond what I expected. Also, Lola loved Helen. Moreover, I can see that Helen also loved Lola and had a lot of patience :). It’s very apparent as we continued lessons how knowledgable Helen truly is. She had an answer or suggestion for just about everything.
We have also done board and training while on vacation with Helen for Lola. We love leaving Lola with Helen as we get daily updates and photos via email. Moreover, Lola is able to socialize with Helen’s dogs. I absolutely love Helen and respect her so much. I’m very grateful for all the teachings and time I’ve had with Helen.

I contacted Helen of Love Wags a Tail because my 2 ½ year old Doberman Pinscher had developed a fear of other dogs and became reactive and aggressive on leash. From the very start I was impressed with Helen. Upon my initial call she asked several questions to get to know me and my dog and she followed up through email. By the time we met Helen the first time she was completely prepared on how to handle our dog’s situation.
We met Helen on a weekly basis and I was impressed with her positive training techniques and her knowledge of dogs. Our dog progressed nicely and came out of his shell. We worked with Helen until the situation was resolved and manageable.

We first learned of Love Wags a Tail from our local Town of Davie newsletter. How wonderful that Helen was offering classes at a local equestrian park. We have a 2 year old Labrador Retriever from Southeastern Guide Dog. Due to her exuberance and immaturity she did not pass her tests to be a sight impaired assist guide dog. So we were lucky enough to adopt her. Sophie is a chow hound and with that comes some overly assertive grabbing of food/treats. Helen was excellent explaining how we could use Sophie willingness to eat while training her to do tricks. We also gained a lot of insight on how to get ready for the Canine Good Citizen test. With Helen’s help, we are sure that Sophie will be successful achieving this honored canine designation. Helen is a dedicated dog trainer, sensible in her approach, uses positive reinforcement and you can tell she loves what she does! Thanks Helen, and a “high five” from Sophie!

Helen’s gentle yet effective approach was right on target to transform my pug from a menace to a well behaved dog around others. Helen knows her stuff when it comes to training and she was always available to offer guidance and encouragement while I was learning how to better control my dog. Precious and I are so thankful we met Helen @ Love Wags A Tail, LLC. Precious is my heart. I adore her. However, the others in the house think she is a pain in the –well, you know…
I called Helen one day and asked what she could do to help me, as Precious always chases hubby around the house and barks wildly when my granddaughter is in the room. Precious is very protective of me and doesn’t want anyone near me. They say that when I am not at home they don’t hear a peep out of her. When I am home she spazzes out- Even biting when we drop something and go to pick it up.
Helen came to my home and met Precious and I and we did some weekly training . Then I enrolled Precious in Helen’s Trick Training class at the park –not thinking we would get a lot out of it– but I was wrong. We were introducing Precious to other dogs to learn how to behave. I had already taught her how to sit pretty –and in that class I learned how to teach her other commands –Like Down and Reach.
This fall I enrolled precious in Helen’s “Hold Your Horses” training. WOW, it was a great time. One of the ladies from the first class was amazed to see Precious last week because she didn’t hear a peep—I said “Yes, look she’s right here sitting on her mat!” That was the best accomplishment.
Precious now has a mat that she is learning to go to -when I say go to your mat –she is learning this so some day I can take her places and she will lay quiet. She will Sit, lay down, reach (with her lil butt in the air), and she will stay (not for long but she is learning). She will also come when I put my hand down and say come! Oh, and she is learning to leave it! I will put her treat down and say leave it –she will sit there and look around and wait till I say –OK..good girl –take it!
I am truly amazed at what she is learning!
Not only does your pet learn commands but Helen is great at teaching the Pet’s family how to work with their fur-baby. And get the best results.
The KEY to Helen’s training –is to be patient, listen to what she says,, and practice. She will watch you and if you aren’t doing it correctly she will explain and it will make a lot of sense.
I recommend Helen to all. You will not be disappointed –and maybe we will meet in a class!

The class was small so our dogs got individual attention as well as working as a group. The class was held at a local neighborhood park so it was convenient, clean and safe. Helen was our teacher and she took the time to explain the lesson plus we received a printout of our weekly lessons to practice at home. If we needed additional help with our dog Helen took the time to reinforce the lesson. Helen also recommended websites, stores for the pet needs, accessories, etc.

Sasha, 14 months, white Siberian Husky, attended 6 training sessions of “Hold your Horses” with Helen. Positive reinforcement is the method she uses. To be successful, it requires reinforcement and patience from my part. Sasha learned some commands; sometimes she tries to figure out what she needs to do to get the treat.
Helen is very kind and sweet; she customs the training according to each dog’s behavior. Highly recommend her as a dog trainer.
